Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

You’ve Got A Friend

“The perfect is the enemy of the good”, is a quote I have not heard often enough in my life, yet enough times to let the words and wisdom behind them sink in. For some time I have wanted to create a blog to share my thoughts with those for whom I care about and to keep an imperfect record of this life God has given to me. I have postponed the creation of this blog in order to someday create the “perfect” writing, the “perfect” style, the “perfect” format, the “perfect” blog. No such thing exists. I finally have decided to forego the perfect in order to seek the good. I hope that this blog will be a place to encounter the good things in life, the things of the kingdom, the places where faith, family, friends and forgiveness are central.

As many of you friends know, I have recently returned to priestly ministry in the Roman Catholic Church following a significant leave of absence. The thing most striking to me today is the warm welcome I have received from so many of you. There is no judgement, only hospitality. This evening I met with two friends for dinner and to simply enjoy their company and some good food. For this I am thankful. Friendship is one of the greatest gifts one can hope to receive.

Greetings in Christ, Father Christian! I followed this link from my blog (thank you for commenting!) onto yours. Your site is a peaceful haven within the chaotic-ness of cyberspace. I share your love for Bluegrass and was inspired this afternoon by the following sentiment in your post:

“I finally have decided to forego the perfect in order to seek the good.

    I needed that today.

    Sincerely,

Thanks Molly! You should know that your simple reflections on living the Christian life in the midst of the hectic pace of society were in many ways instrumental in providing the space I needed to enter once again into ministry. I owe you one!

Well, I am MORE than honored and I appreciate very much you sharing that with me. God’s blessings on you and your ministry!
