Photographs And Memories
A few years ago my younger brother and I began a project to collect as much of our family memorabilia and history as we could and transfer it all to a website that would have a gigantic photo album, genealogy, film clips and just about anything you can imagine. We wanted to be able to pass all of this along to the generations to come. When we began, I never knew what an enormous project it would become. We started by simply collecting our own photos, expanded to the immediate family and soon were overloaded with photos, films, sound recordings, baby shoes, yearbooks, newspaper clippings, letters, prayer books, with what seemed like more and more coming in everyday.
Today I finally got my scanner back up and running so that I can slowly begin adding old photos to the website. It is an interesting project. Many photos bring back memories of people and days long gone and it made me realize that I am lucky to have known all four of my grandparents as well as three great grandparents. Family can be a very challenging thing, but knowing where you have come from can be a tremendous help in knowing oneself. I look forward to transferring more and more photos and film to our website over the coming months and to hearing the stories behind them.
