Old Friends
It was a pleasant surprise when my friend Jim emailed to let me know he would be passing through town on the last leg of his summer vacation. Like many of his vacations, this one took place by way of motorcycle and allows him the freedom to simply drive down the road, seeing the people and places he would like to see.
We met as classmates at Mundelein Seminary near Chicago and have been friends ever since. As I have said before on this blog, friendship is one of God’s greatest gifts. It is an especially wonderful gift when you can have a long friendship that can be continually deepened over time by prayer. With this in mind, perhaps it is best to end with a quote from the Scriptures.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls for he has no one to help him up.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
