Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Elevation

Love
Lift me up out of these blues
Won’t you tell me something true
I believe in you

There is nothing like a little elevation and fresh air to keep the blues at bay. It was my happy privilege to introduce a friend to the Alum Cave Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains this past weekend. We had a great time and beautiful weather. I was pleased to discover that though it has been too long since I have hiked, my body still seems acclimated to steep trails. I was also happy that with a little encouragement, my friend did not give up before we reached the most picturesque parts of the trail. This short hike makes me look forward to scheduling some more time for walking in the woods as the Fall colors approach.

I love Tennessee. The weather is mild and the mountains are breathtaking. That is one thing (well, two things actually) the flat – and either icy cold or burning hot – Midwest cannot provide. A hike in the midst of that gorgeous scenery sounds very lovely. Enjoy!

Mr. Irvin and I had planned a backpacking trip this summer that I had to cancel because of sceduleing problems. I’m hopeing he’ll be able to do one in mid december as soon as finals are finished for him. might that be a good time for you as well? I hiked Icewater spirngs last january just after some heavy snow and dispite ice on the trails it was absolutly awsome.

Glad you like the mountains too Molly! If you are ever heading this way, let me know and maybe I can fit in a hike!

Hey Ryan! If we planned it soon enough, I think a winter trip would work….I would love to hang out with Swervin’ Irvin too.
