Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Gone Fishin’

A large part of my day was spent in a workshop on the in’s and out’s of canon law as it relates to the grounds for marriage nullity. Yes, yes…..I know, very exciting stuff! I can feel your envy, even from afar. And while it is not always my favorite subject, I must commend the workers from our tribunal for presenting the material in a way that was both pastoral and intelligent.

The highlight of the day, however, was my drive home. It was an absolutely beautiful day in Knoxville. I decided, as I do often, to take the long way home. The scenic route offers a feast for the eyes and senses. It was nice to make a brief visit to a place that I often times go to find peace, the local fishing hole. While I have never fished there, I have often made these docks a spot for quiet and solitude. One day in particular that I remember spending time here was September 11, 2001. Following the events of that morning, it was good to be in peaceful setting, where God’s voice could still be heard.

Today there were several folks who had taken the opportunity to be fishing. It was a great choice on their part on this spectacular day in East Tennessee.

I need to find a spot like that for me…although not much solitude can be achieved when you have a 2 1/2 year old saying “Mama! Look! The FISHIES!” But I can definately hear God speaking to me thru Julia from time to time:) She says some silly things from time to time but she catches me off guard at times when she says things like ” Mama,Sit here…Just be still and quiet”…Can learn a lot from that kiddo if I really listen to her:)

I’m so glad that you’re able to find peace… I know you need it after your cubbies’ performance! All this stuff about nullity and so on is just mere cover for the true pain.

Ha! You know if it were any other team but the Dodgers I’d be rooting for them. At least it will all be over this weekend.

The Cubbies aren’t done yet! You have to win three games to advance. But I must admit I was hoping for a tie at this point. Thinking about going to find a goat to kill. I always liked the goat stew down in Haiti.
