Gone Fishin’
A large part of my day was spent in a workshop on the in’s and out’s of canon law as it relates to the grounds for marriage nullity. Yes, yes…..I know, very exciting stuff! I can feel your envy, even from afar. And while it is not always my favorite subject, I must commend the workers from our tribunal for presenting the material in a way that was both pastoral and intelligent.
The highlight of the day, however, was my drive home. It was an absolutely beautiful day in Knoxville. I decided, as I do often, to take the long way home. The scenic route offers a feast for the eyes and senses. It was nice to make a brief visit to a place that I often times go to find peace, the local fishing hole. While I have never fished there, I have often made these docks a spot for quiet and solitude. One day in particular that I remember spending time here was September 11, 2001. Following the events of that morning, it was good to be in peaceful setting, where God’s voice could still be heard.
Today there were several folks who had taken the opportunity to be fishing. It was a great choice on their part on this spectacular day in East Tennessee.
