Ave Maria

One of my better habits these days is that when I know I must spend a long period of time in my car, I will listen to audiobooks or podcasts that focus on the Christian faith, or my other religion–baseball. It is usually a good use of my time and so far it has not caused my thoughts to wander so far as to be involved in an accident. Today I was catching up on listening to a program I discovered last year entitled, Our Life In Christ. This program is currently sponsored by an organization called Ancient Faith Radio, which is a ministry of the Orthodox Church in the United States and though I am not an Orthodox Christian, I have found that almost all of what I have found there to be good for my soul.
Today, as I was listening, I was blown away by a prayer that centers on the Virgin Mary and her Son and thought I would share it here. Steve Robinson, a co-host of the show, (you can find a link to his blog,Pithless Thoughts, in my blog list) mentions that this is “a really cool prayer”. I couldn’t agree more.
Having born, O Virgin,
The Divine Ark and Tablets of the Law,
The all pure Word of God,
Christ your uncircumscribable Son,
With your prayers,
As with the finger of God,
Inscribe Him upon the surface of my soul.
