Ray Of Light

Icons are all about layers and layers of light, the final destination being the uncreated light of God. Yesterday we focused on the light of the natural world. Today we added a layer of highlights and color that represent the inner light of humanity. This is a light that comes from within and radiates outward. As I painted today, I consciously attempted to correct some mistakes from yesterday as I added new highlights and depth to the icon. It was a reminder to me that even as I am trying to improve the imperfections on this image of Saint Michael, God is attempting to do the same with me. He is continually trying to remake me in his image and likeness, to correct the mistakes in my character that are a result of my own sinfulness. May He be successful in his efforts.
