Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

How Far Is Heaven?

Dorothy Day often quoted St. Catherine of Sienna who said, “All the way to heaven is heaven, because He said, I am the Way.”

Today we focused on the layer of painting that represents heaven, the realm where the angels live. It is still part of the created world, but not of the material world that we all know. Reflecting upon the day makes me realize that my own spirit was in the right place. As I look back on today’s work it seems that everything was light. There was no heaviness at all. It was amazing to see the colors brighten and then for the image to come back into sharper focus. My teacher said it is almost like the image took a shower and is now clean again.

We have one more day to add the finishing touches to the images and then go our separate ways. I look forward to one more day of creative work with Saint Michael.

Dorothy Day is said to have declared, “All the way to heaven, is heaven.”

It was a quote Dorothy loved and often used, but the source, as I recall, is St Catherine of Siena.

Thanks for the correction on the source of the quote Jim. I have edited the post to reflect it as well.

By the way, I love your writing. It has been very helpful to me on my own spiritual journey.
