Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Saint Luke

When setting out to begin my study of writing icons, I was unaware that we would be finishing on the feastday of St. Luke. What an amazing thing to end my work on this first icon on the day when we commemorate the patron saint of iconographers. Saint Luke is said to have made the first icons of the Theotokos. We began the day by attending a celebration of the Divine Liturgy and then went right back to work, putting the finishing touches on our icons.

This week has definitely strengthened my relationship with St. Michael, and has allowed me to see the beginnings of some new friendships. I hope that those of you who have been following the blog have enjoyed seeing the progress of the icon and I look forward to beginning work on a new one very soon.

Beautiful! Through the prayers of St. Luke may you continue to grow in the grace of depicting the Holy.

I can identify with what you said about strengthening your relationship with St Michael, as this process of developing relationships with particular saints has been a rather unexpected blessing of writing icons for me, and something that I can’t really adequately express.

I found your blog through your comment on Fr Gregory’s Koinonia, and am pleased to have done so.

thanks for the prayers of all of you, and yes, it is hard to describe the conversation that goes on in writing an icon, but it is most certainly there. glad you found the blog and for your comment.
