Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

How To Dream

We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.

Woodrow T. Wilson

Things have turned cold this week, bitterly cold. Last night, my housemate and I realized our heat was not working properly, so we fired up the wood stove and got out some extra blankets. Midway through today I realized I was beginning to feel a bit under the weather, so this afternoon has been spent sipping tea and watching the fire. I hope the coming months of winter will be a time to meditate on the many dreams of mine which have not yet come to life. The emptiness of this season should provide ample opportunity for the quiet listening to God that always helps me not only to dream but to bring those dreams, step by step, into reality.

A twisting of melancholy hopes and fear
Sam singing encouragement in my ear
And you brother friend father Christian dear
Giving me words I need to hear

    Thank you.

On the other hand, it was 87 today in my neck of the woods. We’re still using the air conditioning. sigh. There is something missing when there are not 4 seasons. Melancholy is not evil, hibernating within our hearts and letting our ground go fallow for a season is the soil of new growth. May your winter be blessed.
