Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Huckleberry Friends

Yesterday was truly a day to give thanks. I began the day by celebrating the eucharist with my new parish family, with the added bonus of the baptism of recently born twins. It was a nice way to begin the day.

My afternoon and evening was spent with good friends that I have not seen for way too long. I met David and Jennifer while at my first assignment at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville. We were going through a practice for their entrance into the church at Easter and I was asked to fill in as their sponsor for the practice. It was the beginning of what has been a long and cherished friendship with them both. It was an honor to have Jennifer proclaim one of the readings when I was ordained a deacon and even more of one to have been asked to be the godfather of their oldest son, Brian. Last night was spent simply. I am thankful that I am once again living closer to these huckleberry friends of mine and I hope the shorter drive will allow us to see one another more often.
