Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Good Medicine

Last night was spent with friends to eat, play some music and sing, and then to see one of my favorite bands of all time. Thanks for the idea Mike!

Thank you for the country music video. I really enjoyed it. Good website too. I have a question:

Recently, I discovered a form of prayer and meditation which helps to put me in touch with the contemplative nature of this season. I begin by finding a quiet space, sitting in that quiet space, and quieting my conscious thoughts by listening only to the sound of my own breathing. Once I have achieved inward silence, I begin to imagine a simple triangle. One corner of my triangle touches the earth at the North Pole and I can see that its vertex is a right angle. The remaining two corners of the triangle touch the equator. They’re also right angles. In the silence of my mind, I contemplate the fact that my triangle exists on the surface of a sphere, treated as a two-dimensional positively curved non-Euclidean space. At this point, I focus all of my mental and spiritual energy on visualizing all three right angles at once. This is not easy and required my utmost concentration and the surrender of my preconceived notions of reality. Many times, I have had to begin again, reminding myself not to be afraid of the obvious contradiction my mind may sense. For in that tension, the tension between the quantum and the triune, I find a path which leads to a deeper, truer reality not readily accessible. This has been a great form of meditation for me and I highly recommend it to those who dig the self and wish to nourish and expand the lotus blossom of the mind’s eye.

As a priest, have you ever tried meditation like this?

    Thanks again.

Old Crow Medicine Show, of course! Btw….is this Lee? You the only person who seems to fit your description that I know.

    Augustus,

Yes to trying to pray through meditation. No to triangles, lotuses, etc. Still just trying for inner stillness.

Don’t worry about the triangles. The triangles are just a personal tool for me. Regardless of the technique, I’ve come to believe that meditation is the key to success and the pathway to finding the true self. But I believe we have to visualize what we want. See it, feel it, believe in it. Our minds are mental workshops with workbenches that are in reality altars. Our thoughts are like sacred vessels and what they contain is the WORD. We can build anything on that altar if we make a mental blueprint and begin to build. I’ve found the act of building is like worship and the beginning of all worship is the imagination. The process can be amazing. First we think, then we organize our thoughts into plans. Then we transform our thoughts into reality by taking some positive action. It’s like performing a miracle of sorts. The beauty of the imagination is that it perceives reality even when it is not fully materialized. But it all starts with meditation. We must first see it clearly in our minds before we can do it. We must have faith in the self, visualize the unseen and then actualize our way to success. We really can live our dreams. But we need to take time to notice them.

Thanks again for your nice website. I’m enjoying your entries, pictures, music etc.
