Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Flame

Abba Lot went to see Abba Joseph and said to him, ‘Abba as far as I can I say my little office, I fast a little, I pray and meditate, I live in peace and as far as I can, I purify my thoughts. What else can I do?’ then the old man stood up and stretched his hands towards heaven. His fingers became like ten lamps of fire and he said to him, ‘If you will, you can become all flame.’

    First, I LOVE Maxfield Parrish.

Second, yes…may we glow with the uncreated light of God in our flesh as did Christ in His transfiguration. To be so pure…what a goal for this life.

This painting has never been very conducive in purifying my thoughts.

Yes….transfiguration is the goal….it is pretty tough journey though, with many ups and downs and detours along the way.

Sorry to have stirred up less than useful thoughts for you Mark, it was not my intent.

That’s OK – it is a lovely painting, after all. Why deprive everyone else because of one bad apple. Part of the process, I suppose. “Cor mundum crea in me, Deus”. Mundum means clean, but also purified. So there you go.
