Kodachrome

Last week when a friend of mine turned on my camera he looked at me and asked if I had purposely set it to psychedelic mode. He handed me the camera and when I looked at the screen it was easy to see what he meant. Waves of a digital lines of all colors were splashed across the screen, creating a rainbow effect reminiscent of the Beatles movie, span style=”font-style:italic;”Yellow Submarine/span. “Maybe it’s just the screen”, I thought to myself, hoping that the pictures themselves might be fine. Unfortunately this was not the case and I realized it was time to say goodbye to my first digital camera. She has had quite a run of pictures, but it seems that one too many backpacking trips has taken its toll. Today I went in search of a new camera, one that would be simple enough for my non-photographer’s brain and that would fit within my budget. The Nikon that I came home with is lighter and has much better resolution than I am used to. It seems to be a fine camera. But I will miss the old one, at least until I can figure this one out.
