Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Take it to the Limit

Rubens_St_Ignatius_ofLoyola_3538

Take, O Lord and receive, all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. Whatever I have or hold, you have given to me. I restore it all to you and surrender it wholly to be governed by Your will. Give me only your love and your grace, and I will be rich enough, and ask for nothing more.

–St. Ignatius of Loyola

That’s a dangerous quote, Father. :) If we could truly pray that and accept the “will, grace and love” of God in ALL of its manifestations including chastisement, discipline, formation, breaking and mending and not ask for respite from the battle, but peace… then yes, we’d be the most blessed of all people. This prayer is not for the weak or fainthearted.

No doubt Steve. I remember the first time I prayed it. I immediately thought to myself, what did I just do?

Our former bishop used to urge our teens at confirmation to consider praying what he called the dangerous prayer:

“God, send me the people no one else wants.”

Love this prayer. I agree it is dangerous. Like – Thy will be done. God bless.
