Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Gifts from God

I am not going to lie. When I saw Fr. Christian’s NPH update post, I turned a little green. Okay, it was more like a few shades of green. Jealousy isn’t a nice thing, and I don’t like admitting that I am jealous of him, Fr. David, and John. If you have ever been to any NPH house, then I think you can understand how I feel. You can’t be there at this very moment, but you really really want to be! In particular, I’m green because they’re visiting NPH El Salvador. In the pictures, I saw some of my friends! It is such a beautiful place and the kids are so wonderful and awesome and amazing. If you ever feel unloved, visiting an NPH house will cure you instantly. Those kids are so loving and thankful.

Diego!!!

The humorous part (in some aspects anyway) was when Fr. David texted me to tell me that he just finished playing soccer with my best buddy Diego! Diego remembered me and kept asking questions about me; with the help of FD and FC, he even left a message on my blog! He is like the little brother that I always wanted. Oh my goodness I was so happy to sort of hear from him! I forgot all about the little green monster. I’m glad he went away.

Now if you don’t understand the pull that NPH has after listening to me, well, I don’t know what to say about that. I promise that is the last of my whining. On to the crux of the matter.

Reading the NPH update reminded me of the kids’ ever-present love. It made me realize that that is one of their many gifts from God. They are able to love others unconditionally. It is especially touching when you know some of their stories. Having gone through what some of them have, I would think that you wouldn’t have it in your heart to love. They do however, and they have plenty of room.

DSC_4972These kids are some of the most beautiful people I have ever met. I have learned a great deal from them, but most importantly that gifts from God don’t have to be spectacular or of mind-boggling quality. It can be as simple and pure as love.

“Each one has his own special gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.” -1 Corinthians 7:7

El Salvador was awesome! Glad you got the message from Diego….he was excited to leave you a message. You would have loved the other houses too. Fr. David, John and I are going to try to do some posts here on the blog that will share three different perspectives on the trip. It was fabulous!
