7 Quick Takes: Bragging On Fellow Bloggers

This week’s quick takes are an opportunity to highlight some fellow bloggers who keep me coming back for more. Some I have met and others I have not, but they are all worth checking out.

First up is my friend, Fr. Gregory Jensen over at Koinonia. Fr. Gregory is a deep thinker who continues to challenge me to go a bit deeper. I was fortunate enough to meet up with him for dinner and conversation at a recent Christian Association for Psychological Studies conference down in Orlando.

Next up is another Orthodox priest whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting whose blog is entitled, Ramblings of a Redneck Priest. Fr John’s posts are more infrequent than many in the blogosphere, but they are certainly worth chewing on.

Of course I can’t leave out a frequent guest blogger here, Ashley Siferd. Ashley began her blog, If Necessary, Use Words, at the urging of many who loved her guest writing at this blog back in the Spring. She never fails to amaze me with wisdom beyond her years.

My friend Jeff Johnson, SJ recently began a blog with several other Jesuit friends entitled, Whosoever Desires. They describe their blog as an “…attempt to address art, music, politics, culture — everything that moves us — in light of our faith in God, which is to say, contemplatively.” Jeff and I attended the same high school and the same seminary for a short period before his decision to enter the Society of Jesus. It has been good to be able to hear his thoughts again.

Enlarging The Heart is a relatively new blog that shares wisdom and encouragement from the saints of the Church, both East and West. I appreciate the regular chance to contemplate the words of the holy men and women who have gone before us.

As one who appreciates the lighter side of life, The Ironic Catholic has a knack for making me smile. She also teaches at the same school where our parish deacon and chancellor of the realm is studying canon law, and occasionally writes a article for America Magazine (one of my favorites!)

Speaking of humor, if you are simply looking for a good laugh, you can’t go wrong with Cake Wrecks.
