Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Finishing Touches

Today I’m breaking my Sabbath Sunday rule to post the final version of the Theotokos Oranta icon. Someone pointed out to me yesterday that I had forgotten to add a few small lines of paint to the eyes of this image. It seems like a small detail to add just a few brush strokes of white paint, but not doing so determines whether the image has sunken looking eyes, or ones that sparkle with light and stare right at the person in front of it. Tomorrow I will give this icon a new place of honor in my office.

How cool, I really enjoyed reading and following this. Even for a Baptist it was interesting. LOL Great to hear from you and to follow your work, is this your church? Sounds like many folks think lots of good things of you…as they should. I’ll keep checking now to see what you are up to. tls

Beautifully written! I can’t believe you do an icon like that in a week. I’d love to do a class some day.

    Hey Terry,

It is good to see your comment. I hope you are doing well over in God’s Country. Glad you liked seeing this icon come to life. It is something I have been learning since moving back to TN. It helps me grow. Hope to see you soon!

I hope you will be able to come for a week to write one someday Steve. It is tough work, but well worth it.
