This is a great commentary. Thanks for posting it.

One of the first things I learned post-conversion is that one does not judge God by one’s people and that, since we are all flawed, then the people with whom we associate within the church may not meet “our” expectations, but who are we to set the standard? God has already set one. It is love, forgiveness, grace, and acceptance. Somehow I think Anne Rice does not understand what the church really is, nor is she setting the example of what she seems to want others to be like. I think Fr. Barron makes some irrefutable points. I had not seen this; thanks for posting it.

Anne Rice’s decision is disappointing and sad, but we have no right to judge her. We have the right only to have compassion for her and to welcome her back when/if she chooses to return again.
