Blessed is the Kingdom

Seeking The Kingdom In All Things

Hope

The coming of a new year is always an exciting time in that we all get the chance to begin all over again and to hope and dream of better things for the coming year. Even when the past year has been good, there is alway hope for better things to come. Here are ten of my hopes for the coming year, in no particular order.

1. I hope to eat more healthy food, more often, with friends.

2. I hope to finish at least two new icons.

3. I hope to become a better pastor.

4. I hope to make a trip to Austin to see family and friends.

5. I hope to set aside more time for reading.

6. I hope to have a spectacular time with this year’s Bible study at St. Thomas.

7. I hope the Humdinger Project will provide some time in the woods for friends old and new.

8. I hope Gillian Welch will release a new album.

9. I hope to welcome many guests to my home.

10. I hope to become more generous.

What are your hopes and dreams for the coming year?

HUMDINGER! Oh how we have neglected thee…but I agree, I hope we can spend more time in the woods.

    This year I hope…
    to successfully complete Metaphysics
to finally finish E. Schillebeeckx’s book on the sacraments (a multi-year project, to be sure)
to make strides in knowledge of sacred music
to not be an ass all the time (smart, dumb, complete,…)
to give people the benefit of the doubt
    patience takes root this year
to keep my mouth shut & my ears open more
to visit my beloved elderly aunts in SC & FL
to see a shuttle launch before they can the program
to spend less time wasting time on the internet & more time with the writings of the saints.
to pray more & more sincerely
    to write more letters
to be grateful with all I’ve been given & more generous in sharing it
to get both Moto Guzzis on the road
to write & illuminate more manuscripts
to figure out what to hope for

Sorry, not a whole lot of desire to spend more time in the woods.

I have to ditto Mark on a few things, especially, “to not be an ass all the time (smart, dumb, complete,…)” and “to spend less time wasting time on the internet & more time with the writings of the saints.”

I also hope to better able embrace the way of the cross… it seems that I have been given quite a share, and looking at it through outside of the eyes of faith (which I am prone to do), it becomes a source of great despair. But, through the eyes of faith, and with the power of Christ, it can be a source of great sanctification. Along with the time I hope to not waste, I hope I don’t waste any suffering I am given.

I hope to love Him above all else, especially the desires of my wounded nature.

Hope is such a wonderful thing. Keep us going, gives us strength and courage to keep plugging away at what ever it is. Sometimes chasing fantasies. Must be careful and realistic. I hope this year to reconcile with people in my life that I love very much who just don’t get me. I hope to find the courage this year to try again. It’s worth the try. Never give up hope. I too hope to spend a lot more time in the woods. Just me and my rosary.
