Fr. Bob Barron on the Two Minus One Pregnancy
This most current commentary by Fr. Bob Barron is chilling in its description of an attitude of consumerism that is now effecting even matters of childbirth (or the lack thereof).
It is alarming to listen to the logic many of these women use to justify killing their children. Fr. Barron describes, for example, how one woman when faced with the fact that she was carrying a boy and a girl, chose to keep the girl, as she already had a son.
The original NYT article can be found here. It is quite disturbing in its descriptions of the torture and anguish that the parents who are making these decisions have undergone. I often get asked why if the Church is so in favor of life, that we are so against couples employing fertility clinics to help them to have children. This article and the response by Fr. Barron highlights one of the many reasons the Church finds this practice problematic.
Let us continue to pray that our country will begin more and more to choose life.
