Any chance you’d take a look at http://www.tpittgreen.org and even read about how priests are the antidotes to the scandal in “restoring sanctuary” on that site? Bye.

  • Fr. Christian Mathis

I will take a look at the book when I have time. Thank you.

It was good to meet you as well!

Father, you really should ask the person who designed the masthead of your home page to make a revision to capitalize the words “Kingdom” and “God”, and do it free of charge!

Thanks for the comment John. The current design of the blog is a wordpress theme that has been somewhat modified. One of the things that I immediately disliked about it was the inability to capitalize words in the tagline, especially as mine is “The Kingdom of God is Within You”.

I will say that this has caused me less grief than when the tagline was, “No to secularism. No to religion. Yes to the Kingdom of God.”

I am not sure that I can keep this theme and have capital letters in that second line, but perhaps you or someone else can suggest a better tagline that does not require capitalization.

Seems like the same old Pat.

Advent Greetings from Chattanooga!  And thank you again for your much “better than your average” blogs.

My own Advent Conspiracy is to have Catholics delay the all-too-common practice–even in parish groups and church  organizations–of social gatherings and partying in “anticipation” of Christmas BEFORE December 25; in other words, to PREPARE during Advent and then CELEBRATE during Christmastide in sync with the Church’s liturgical cycle.

Of course, this is a fantastic idea, but at least some practical advantages are available for holiday party-givers in the typical after-Christmas sales by merchants and even grocers.

[I spoke to a former Bishop of Knoxville more than once about my AC.  He agreed that it is a worthy ideal (or words to that effect) but I an not surprises that I have not discered that my idea impressed him.]

If you think my idea has any merit, can you suggest how it might be encouraged and, possibly, eventually, catch on and succeed?

I think the idea has a great amount of merit and I think we help it catch on one person at a time. The first year we had the Advent Conspiracy we only were a handful of people and now many in the parish are involved each year.

Thanks Janet. The letter is from Bishop Stika and I am sure you can find some ways to express your opinions to our political leaders at the USCCB website. The address is http://www.usccb.org
